This is a reference format, not legal advice. Wording, required stamp paper value, and notarization steps vary by state and by institution. Many colleges — especially medical and engineering institutions — publish their own prescribed format; always check your specific institution's admission page first and use theirs if one is provided. Confirm final wording with a notary before signing.
When You Need This
If there's a break between your 12th board exam and college, or between two degrees, most institutions ask for a notarized affidavit explaining the gap — confirming you weren't enrolled in any other school, college, or course during that period. This is commonly called a "gap certificate" or "gap year affidavit" — the same document, just two names for it.

How to Use This Format
- Buy non-judicial stamp paper of the value required by your notary or institution — commonly Rs. 50 or Rs. 100 for this type of affidavit, but this genuinely varies by state, so confirm the exact value first.
- Have the affidavit typed or printed on the stamp paper (or attached to it, depending on your notary's process).
- Sign it in front of a Notary Public — do not sign it beforehand.
- Carry a valid ID proof when visiting the notary.
